Hey, niiice heals, are they knit, skip? Great yarn! and you started off with a longer sock and small needles - they look great. Those stripes came out perfect. Smart that you practiced a bit first so you didn't damage your yarn.

I actually finished my second pair (now taking a short break) in time for our cruise (husband won it) and were in your neck of the woods. We flew into Anchorage and kicked around then to Whittier and the inside passage. Next time we want to spend more time just outside of Anchorage.

So sorry about your body damage, OWE!!! :( Hope you are recovering well <3 As they usually ask at the knitting circles...yes but how are your hands! Glad they are able to knit while your bones continue to :)

Bump, back up to the top. Check my pictures for my socks. I'm finally making progress, should finish them soon.

I've been laid up with a broken ankle and broken shoulder, both on the right side - I'm right handed. Flipped my motorscooter on a patch of gravel back on May 20th. Consequently, I'm finding plenty of time to knit.

Started one pair on a larger set of needles for practice (sice 5) but messed them up - went back and forth for a couple of rows rather than in a circular pattern. Unwound those and started again with my good yarn on size 2 needles.

Actually, it has been pretty easy, just take it where you are at the moment, it has a certain rhythm to it. I had a bit of a confusion when I was turning the heels because I didn't follow the instructions closely. Had to backtrack a little and reposition on the needles, but now they are progressing well.

How are your socks going, Michelle?

LOl,
I'm a confirmed minimalist so I like the one needle idea. The book is called 2-at-a-time Socks by Melissa Morgan-Oakes. You can go to the publisher and get all errata and adjust it in the book then you are fine ( I didn't adjust the pattern errata because I was doing the simpler socks without the patterns). Melissa is also online on one of the chat groups where she helps people through challenges (I don't remember which group but if you Google her it should come up). It is not listed in the errata but she seems to use a lot of castons for her socks. So many that I actually dropped down a size - we'll see how that worked.

I think it is the only book out with this technique. I'm amazed that you saw someone else doing it as I haven't run into anyone doing it yet and the master knitters were a bit confused.

It is important to know a bit about knitting a sock before you start (I didn't, lol) and to use a thicker yarn then I did. Also the Addie Turbo needles are very nice and smooth for this but I would actually get bigger then the 40" called for, or if you have the Denice circular needle kit you could just add an extension on when it gets too bulky (after heel turn) then take it off when it is less bulky (after some of the decreases).

Yeah, there are a couple of books for doing socks on two circulars. The one I got was Knitting Circles Around Socks by Antje Gillingham. I would like to learn how to do two on one circular and I have seen it in progress on someone else's needle, just haven't been able to find a book to show me how and haven't been able to commit to a class yet, if there one offered.

I was in a LYS asking about the technique when I saw it, and they had gotten a book in that was full of errors, don't know if it was on two circular method or the single circular method. I asked for the name of the book, so that I wouldn't buy it, but she wouldn't give me the name, probably hoping I'd sign up for their class. I don't think so.

Things look a bit quiet here this month so wanted to share a fun project I'm working on. Did I say fun...uh, I better have my head examined.

Actually I decided to take the plunge and learn to knit in the round so started on a long turbo circular needle (instead of the double pointed). How wonderful to do my first set of socks at one time. I got the book showing how to do it but I think she goes overboard on the cast on stitches.

Now I am struggling through the gusset. I'm a bit on my own because even the master knitter at our knitting group doesn't know about this process, lol. I've found I've had to use some double pointed to put things back in order but I shall finish!
