Greetings fellow knitters...hope someone responds to my message. I'm about to begin an afghan for a friend and I'm a bit lost with the following direction:
p inc 1 st in next st
Do they want me to purl, then increase by knitting?? If not, how do you increase a stitch on the purl side?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Help
Sun, October 24, 2004 - 8:32 AMRo, it depends on what your whole pattern is... are you purling that entire row?
Anyways... here is a little video that shows a purl increase so you can actually see it instead of trying to make out what I (we) write.

Re: Help
Sun, October 24, 2004 - 9:39 AMYou are most welcome!
If your next stitch is a knit then you might need to knit increase. Read ahead to the next row and see what it says for that stitch. Is it a rib pattern? moss stitch? that will tell you which way to go -

Re: Help
Sun, October 24, 2004 - 10:42 AMOh, I've read ahead! It's a single increase row, then the pattern begins. It's actually unnecessary as the pattern is quite a design and I'm just increasing the ribbing around. Know what I mean?
In any case, thanks for your help. And at least we got some conversation going in this quite silent tribe!
