knitting a patchwork afghan and would like to knit a binding to go around the edge...simple, 3" wide garter stitch, with mitered corners. the mitered corners are what's tripping me up. how do i do that? i'd like to knit the binding all in one piece if possible, just turning the corners, but kntting it in four pieces and having seams at the corners is okay too. any reccommendations?

Hi Jen, wow, I just joined today and no one replied to your post from July!

Basically the mitered binding goes like this: first round, k all stiches, then on second round lift the last stitch before the corner stitch (the corner stitch is the last stich for each side of the square) as if to k1, but do not knit it (just hold it in place), then knit the corner stitch and the first stitch of the next side together, then sling the previous not knitted stitch over the two knitted ones. Do all 4 corners this way, then knit a complete round, repeat. Repeat until you have the desired length, then bind off
