Does anyone know where I can get an online pattern to knit a doggie sweater?
Most of my knitting projects have been human things, so this has me stumped.
Oh, the doggie is a small chihuahua, and can't have any paw holes, so it would have to be done up at the bottom some how.
Hope someone can help me out.

Re: Doggie sweater
Wed, January 25, 2006 - 7:35 PMMy sweater pattern was published last year by Hilltop Yarns in Seattle. You can get a copy from them www.hilltopyarns.com or if you want to wait until the end of February I get the rights back and can do with it what I please.
However, any copies of the pattern purchased through Hilltop Yarns have all of the proceeds going to Small Paws rescue.
It's super easy - knit in the round and you only cut the yarn once!
I did one last year for a chihuahua that looked like a wool sock and duplicate stitched a monkey face on it - very very cute! -

Re: Doggie sweater
Sat, January 28, 2006 - 12:26 PMHi... I think I may have found something that will help...
I was at the Michaels site... (michaels.com) which had a knitted dog sweater using lionbrand yarn... I went to the lionbrand site... lionbrand.com and typed dog sweater in the search section... it came up with a variety of both knitted and crocheted patterns, for small, medium and large dogs...
Hope this helps!

Re: Doggie sweater
Sun, January 29, 2006 - 11:57 AMHa ha ha...Lion Brand doesn't KNOW what "Large Dog" means! I checked them out, their idea of Extra large is 26"...my boy has a 40" chest. Unfortunately, I'm a rank beginner...if it was sewing, I could figure out how to get it to fit, but with knitting, no. I do thank you for the reference, though.

Re: Doggie sweater
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 8:04 AMI would try looking for a pattern for a dog with a 20" chest & double everything, but I'm really rebellious when it comes to knitting patterns, so I might not be the best judge.

Re: Doggie sweater
Tue, January 31, 2006 - 11:46 AMThere is a link in the book titled Stitch and Bitch by Debbie Stoller to a site where you enter in the dogs measurements and it generates patterns for you. I do not have the book with me but if you can find it in a bookstore you could look that up. -

Wed, February 1, 2006 - 9:38 AMThat would be cool, if you could find it. I checked out a book from the Library, Dogs in Knits, but again, XL is only up to 75 lb.! I'm really really a beginner, so am looking for super easy stuff.
